The Influence of Parents' Educational Communication Patterns and Religious Family Environment on the Character of SMA Negeri 20 Batam City Students in the Digital Era

This study aims to examine the influence of parental educational communication patterns and the religious family environment on the character of students at SMA Negeri 20 Batam in the digital era. A quantitative survey method was used with 89 tenth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through validity, reliability, descriptive, and multiple linear regression tests. The findings show that all research instruments were valid and reliable. Both parental educational communication patterns and the religious family environment had a positive and significant effect on student character, both individually and simultaneously. The regression results indicate that the religious family environment has a stronger influence than parental educational communication patterns. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.559) shows that 55.9% of the variation in student character is explained by these two variables, while the remaining 44.1% is influenced by other factors. The study concludes that parental educational communication and a religious family environment play an important role in developing student character in the digital era.
